Summary:
Hard Work Pays!!
Goku and Krillin start asking each if the tournament will have lots of fighters, coming to the conclusion there just might be, while Kamesennin reminds them that they have to hurry and go fight in the qualifying rounds. A sound mic operator yells out that the qualifying rounds will begin in the competition hall soon. Goku and Krillin go up to tell the referees that they're here, making them skeptical about this, but allow them anyway. Kamesennin then tells them he can only allow them this far, until he must go, and is giving them a gift. It would be hard to fight in suits, so he made them Kame style Gi clothes to fight in. Goku and Krillin start to get happy about new uniforms, while Kamesennin requests that they go to the finals and they can find him up in the front. Krillin tells him that they'll give it their best and they go in. Goku and Krillin stand as midgets in the crowd of fighters, thinking they may have rushed things a bit. The main referee stands among the fighters on a microphone, expressing a welcome to everyone who has come. He starts to explain the rules that among the qualifying rounds will eight people to fight in the finals. That means, they need to fight one hundred and thirty-seven fighters in four blocks, two of each. Now, he explains that rules during the fight. The fights will be placed on a mat, and should the fighter fall off, lose consciousness, or plead mercy, they lose. Now, the strict rules are that you may not kill your opponent or use weapons. The fight will last one minute and if the fight doesn't end before that, the judges will decide.
Now, they will start to draw numbers, to see who will fight who in what block. Each person goes by, one by one, with Krillin obtaining the 93rd number and Goku the 70th. Krillin sees that they're both in the same block, but Goku notices that they're far apart, so they might not fight. Krillin thanks him for the sympathy, but he will be knocked out in the first round, since he wasn't taught anything by the invincible master. Goku has confidence, saying that they can do it. A mini-referee then gathers the fighters for block three and asks for number 69 and 70 to fight. Goku gets up on the mat, making everybody laugh at him for his size. The number 69 fighter gets up and turns out to be a giant. He makes a small threat, until the ref tells them to go. Goku leaps forward, right under the man, making him ask where he is. Goku taps his finger on his leg, pushing him out of bounds. He struggles to get up, while the ref calls out that number 70 is the victor. Everyone starts to make excuses for the giant man, saying that he must have slipped or lost his balance. Krillin starts to laugh for Goku, telling him that he's lucky that he fell. Goku tells him that's not it, making Krillin confused. Goku then shares words of wisdom, telling him to not fight at full strength, making Krillin confused again, but upset when he hears someone calling out for him. Two men, having the same six dots on their head like Krillin's, start to make fun of him for running away from Orin Temple. They ask why he's here and patting him on the head, saying that he couldn't make it past the first round. Krillin starts to get upset, while his "friends" tell him that they thought they put it in his head that he's got no potential and then asks what number he is. Krillin slowly speaks out ninety-three, making the taller one yell out that he can't wait to fight him then, since he's ninety-four.
They laugh and walk off, while Goku asks who they were. Krillin confesses his story of him being their prey at his old temple and also saying he should just go home now. Goku starts to boost up his energy, telling him to hit him with all he has. Krillin tells him that he just said not to, but Goku cuts him off, saying that he shouldn't listen and go for all he's got. The referee calls up for 93 and 94, while Krillin tries to see his own demised future. He climbs up on the mat with his old training mate, while Goku yells out that he just needs to hit him with one good hit. The ref announces the fight to commence, while the taller bully throws out a punch to Krillin. Krillin sees it and jumps up and over the bully, getting mad, then kicking him in the stomach, making him fly out the wall several yards away and several feet out the building. The referee slowly speaks that number 93 is the victor, while Goku flexes his muscles, saying that the old timer really did teach them to get strong without even knowing it. Krillin looks at his hands and agrees.
